A native of Santa Monica, California, Brian Dunning is best known for his contribution to the debunking of pseudo scientific phenomena . His podcast Skeptoid focuses on topics such as homeopathic medicine, pop culture misconceptions, urban myths, and New Age philosophy. In 2010, Skeptoid won the Parsec Award for "Best Fact Behind the Fiction Podcast" and was recognized by Independent Investigations Group (IIG) for its "Outstanding Contribution to Science and Skepticism."

Dunning has made media appearances at the 2011 Northeast Conference of Science and Skepticism and the 2010 SkeptiCal Conference. His film Here Be Dragons earned him further recognition by winning an award at the Portland Humanist Film Festival in 2011. In addition to his production career, the science writer also hosts his own blog.
